How Erica B Works

  1. Initial consultation. At our first meeting, we'll discuss your ideas and sketch out your unique design together.
  2. Pricing. I'll provide you with a written quotation and timetable for completion of the garment.
  3. Toile fitting. The first fitting is with a toile (a full mock-up of the garment in calico). This allows you to see how the design suits you and we can discuss any changes. The toile is just one of many couture techniques I use.
  4. Tacked fitting. Using the altered toile as my pattern, I cut the garment fabric which is then hand-tacked and fitted so that any further changes can be made before permanently stitching the fabric.
  5. Further construction and fittings. Your garment will develop over several stages. During that time, there may be two or three additional fittings. Fittings give you a say in the creation of your garment and help to ensure that it fits perfectly. I use many couture techniques in construction, from the selection of backing fabrics through to intensive hand-stitching, to achieve the perfect finish.

''Thank you, the dress was brilliant, it didn't feel weird because you took all that time working out what I would feel comfortable in. I felt like a princess.'' Marion, Cambridge.
